Interfaith Shabbat! Friday, November 21
Interfaith Shabbat will take place Friday, November 21st at Hillel. Last year was the first time Hillel hosted the event which drew over 175 students, faculty, and staff from Wash U and other St. Louis colleges. The program unites students from several religious and cultural backgrounds for a traditional Shabbat experience lead by Jewish students. Students from all religious backgrounds are invited to join together for an evening of meaningful conversation and good food. In addition, a learning service will take place lead by Rabbi Ryan Dulkin to engage students in conversation about religious differences. After dinner Karen Aroesty, director of the Anti-Defamation League in St. Louis, will be speaking.
This event is COMPLETELY FREE. Services will begin at 5:45pm and dinner will begin around 7:00pm. For more details contact St. Louis Hillel at hillel@stlouishillel.org or (314) 935-9040.

Takkana Social Justice Fellowship - Accepting Applications for 2009
The application process is now open. Deadline for applications is December 5th. The goal of the fellowship is to create a dynamic model of a pluralistic Jewish community on our campus and to advance social justice awareness and activism among Jewish college students. Over the course of one year we hope to empower a cohesive group of students that represent the diversity of our community to develop a discourse of social justice as their communal responsibility and to develop their skills as agents of social change. Participants will go on a service trip with the American Jewish World Service to Guatemala in May after finals.
For an application or from more information please contact Jessica Litwack at jessica@stlouishillel.org, or 935-9043.
St. Louis Hillel seeks to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students, so that they are able to enrich the Jewish people in the world. The St. Louis Hillel is committed to enabling the more than 2,000 Jewish undergraduate and graduate students we serve to "do Jewish". Hillel is not a building, a synagogue, or a youth group. Our programming reflects the interests of students, and consequently evolved as students' interests change. While the Alvin & Jeanette Goldfarb Hillel building is on the Washington University campus, Hillel programs reach students at all St. Louis area colleges and universities. Students will find Hillel in fraternity houses, dormitories, campus theaters, coffee shops and wherever students are active.
Hillel's mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.
Hillel provides a Jewish home away from home for college students. We offer Shabbat and holiday services and meals, spiritual, educational, social justice, and cultural programs, individual counseling, and lots of opportunities to simply "hang out" with other Jewish students.
