Jewish Groups on Campus
There are currently over 25 different Jewish groups on campus from social justice, to Israel, Israeli dance, minyanim and many more. Click above for a list of all current groups. Jewish groups on campus can be found through Hillel, the Jewish Student Union and Chabad, as well as a few that stand on their own. The variety of groups reflects the nature of our students. Programming at Wash U is done by the students for the students with supervision by Hillel staff and others. Groups and programming change year to year as the students' needs and wants evolve. If there's something you want, we'll help you get it.

Conference/Learning Program Funding
Due to a generous endowment, Hillel has funds available to help subsidize students who wish to attend Jewish leadership conferences or other Jewish learning programs. This funding is provided on a reimbursement basis, meaning Hillel will reimburse a portion of your costs upon submission of receipts.

To get approval for funding, contact the office manager, Denise 314-935-9038.

Kosher Food on Campus
Hillel provides a home for the Kosher kitchens that supply the Wash U Kosher meal plan. Kosher food is supervised by the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis and available, prepack at almost all eateries across campus. There is also a hot line in the Center Court every evening. For more info about the Kosher meal plan visit www.diningservices.wustl.edu.

Missing Class Due to Religious Holidays
Washington University states that they are not religiously affiliated, and therefore only recognize closings for national holidays. Our experience is that professors are sensitive to the needs of religious students. Most professors will avoid scheduling major tests or projects and may even choose to cancel their own class for religious holidays. Professors are generally very willing to work with students, if the student contacts the professor with their needs in a timely manner (i.e. when students receive the syllabus, not the day before the holiday). Arrangements can generally be made to acquire class notes or reschedule tests when classes need to be missed due to religious observance. St. Louis Hillel feels it is important for students to form their own Jewish identity and to learn how to incorporate their Jewishness in the world around them. We encourage students to make every effort to handle these needs on their own, however, the Hillel Rabbi is available to advocate for students on their behalf if adequate arrangements cannot be made between a student and a professor for religious observance.

Renting Space at Hillel
Student groups have priority and may rent free of charge any space at Hillel for programming. Rental procedures must be followed to obtain space.

Rental Procedures:

* Turn in rental application and signed policy agreement to office manager as early as possible – preferred deadline is at least 2 weeks prior.
* Wait for approval from office manager before publicizing your event to avoid space conflicts.
* Provide set-up requirements to the office manager at least 3 days in advance, or do it yourself.
* Hillel does not have maintenance staff, you must clean-up after your program or you may be refused further rentals.

Rental Policies and Application
For more info contact the Office Manager, Denise 314-935-9038 Reimbursement for Programming
Students may receive reimbursements from Hillel for purchasing programming items that fall within a Hillel approved program budget. Before purchasing, students should consult with their Hillel staff supervisor for approval, and to utilize Hillel accounts or receive a tax exempt form. In order to receive reimbursement, you must fill out the reimbursement form within one week of the program, attach all receipts and get your Hillel staff supervisor's signature. The office manager will then process and mail a reimbursement check within 2 weeks. Hillel will not reimburse without receipts or for taxes.
